One of the most important things we can do for our health is find ways to lower our stress. It sounds simple, but it doesn’t always feel simple. We have all fallen victim to life’s pressures, and many of us have tried EVERYTHING but never truly feel relief. Stress, unfortunately, is a part of life. As long as we are keeping our stress levels healthy, there is absolutely an opportunity for balance. The stress that causes anxiety and burn-out is called negative stress or toxic stress. Sometimes we take on too much at work, chores build up at home, our finances get out of our grasp, social life is next to nonexistent, and all of these stressors can cause our stress to sky rocket. As a result, we bog down and become an exhausted versions of ourselves. To prevent this exhaustion from setting in, we put together a list of some small ways to combat stress in your everyday life and even bring about a sense of peace.
Meditation & Grounding
Meditation is a wonderful way to help lower your stress levels. If you can carve out just a small amount of time each day to sit with yourself and practice mindfulness, DO IT! If you have a hard time keeping yourself focused during meditation, you can find guided meditation and guided muscle relaxation videos on the internet. These videos are a great way to keep a wandering mind on track. Meditation is a small way you can show yourself love on a daily basis and give your system a break from all of the going and doing.
We also love grounding. To learn more about what this term means, visit our partners in earthing & grounding products below.
Hydration & Nutrition
Staying hydrated and choosing healthier food options will greatly impact your stress levels. When our brains and bodies are already overloaded, we can give them a much needed break with good nutrition and hydration. Swap the caffeine and sugar for some H2O, and swap out the pizza for a more balanced meal with a protein, veggies, and a complex carbohydrate. You can also cut down on even more stress by having healthy meal options already prepared. All4One Club even offers food delivery on select meals!
Putting boundaries in place is one of the nicest things you can do for yourself. Let go of the fear of missing out and the people pleasing. Stay home and spend time with yourself. Give yourself time to evaluate things in your life, set goals, and even just pat yourself on the back for all of your hard work. Enjoy a warm bath, read a good book, watch a movie or your favorite show, spend some time in nature, make time for things that bring you joy and peace. This is one of the most underrated ways to eliminate stress. It is in this time alone with ourselves that we can make deliberations on what should stay in our life and what should go.
Having someone to talk to such as a therapist or a trusted friend is another very important thing for combatting stress in your life. It’s easy to internalize a lot of the life pressure that we feel. If you spend some time sharing, you may find new ways to look at your stress and even more ways of managing it.
We all face stress, and stress isn’t something that can be completely eliminated. Knowing ways that you can care for yourself in the midst of stress will make all of the difference. Give some of our Destressology products a try while you are at it!
